Hestia, goddess of the hearth. Brooms sweep away dust, but also clear energy, allow space for something new. Why is the broom of a hearth witch (and one from Greece no less!) in the Forest of Baba Yaga? Well, why not? Who’s to say those two haven’t been old friends for thousands of years? Maybe it was a gift on Hestia’s last visit to the old crone, an enchanted offering to sweep Baba Yaga’s magical house that roves on chicken feet. Or maybe, more likely, Baba Yaga won a wager and spirited the broom away for her own uses.
